LPJK Certification Indonesia is a common search phrase, but it can create confusion. LPJK is part of Indonesia’s construction-services institutional framework; it is not the name of one universal certificate issued to every contractor.
For construction businesses, the relevant company credential is generally a Sertifikat Badan Usaha (SBU) for the applicable classification and qualification. Construction personnel may need Sertifikat Kompetensi Kerja (SKK). The business certification assessment is conducted through an authorized LSBU.
LPJK, SBU, SKK, and LSBU
- LPJK: the Construction Services Development Board within the construction-services framework.
- SBU: a business-entity certificate for the approved construction-service classification, subclassification, and qualification.
- SKK: a competency certificate for construction personnel.
- LSBU: an authorized construction business certification body that assesses business-certification applications.
These terms should not be used interchangeably. A company SBU does not replace the individual SKK credentials required for relevant personnel, and an SKK does not authorize a company to operate outside its approved business scope.
Who Should Review Construction SBU Requirements?
A company intending to provide construction contracting, construction consulting, or other regulated construction services should map its intended scope against the applicable KBLI, construction classification, subclassification, qualification, ownership profile, and personnel requirements.
The requirement is activity-specific. A company should not select an SBU merely because a competitor uses the same classification or because a project description sounds similar.
How the Institutions Fit into an SBU Application
Begin by identifying the construction activity and applicable certification scope. The company then prepares its evidence for assessment by an authorized LSBU through the applicable licensing and certification systems. LPJK, the LSBU, the company SBU, and individual SKK credentials each have distinct roles.
